Soleil Design is a nine year old graphic design studio. We have a solid foundation in print design and branched out into internet design in 1995. Our workflow is about half print and half web. Our depth of experience in both areas means you can be assured your marketing message maintains consistency across various media. It also saves you time and effort because you don’t need to coordinate multiple firms to accomplish your goals. One-stop shopping, concept to implementation!

We take all projects from concepts and sketches through digital comps to revisions and production. We see print jobs through the proofing and press proof stage to the final printed piece. We even deliver it to you! Alternatively, if you have vendors you already work with, we can coordinate our efforts with theirs to ensure your project meets our high standards, as well as yours. Since we do all design and production work ourselves, as well as handle all account service, you'll never feel like you’ve been “handed off” to someone else.

We provide you with top-notch creative design in many areas:

  • Corporate Identity
  • Logo Design
  • Web Publishing
  • Brochures & Catalogs
  • Print Ads
  • Invitations, Flyers & Announcements
  • Newsletters
  • Direct Mail
  • Package Design

Every project begins as a conversation between client and designer; we ascertain the project’s goals, its target market and budget parameters. Next, we go to the drawing board and create a series of pencil sketches to quickly explore many design possibilities. You may be wondering why we use something as basic as pencil and paper when we have a super computer and the industry’s best software at our fingertips. In the beginning stages of design, we find it much more efficient and creative to explore this way. Remember: the computer is just a tool, (albeit a very fancy tool), but it does NOT design for us. Design takes place in the brain, eyes and hands of the designer.

Case Study: LeadersU.Com Logo Development
Pictured here are several pencil sketches done for LeadersU.Com, which provides leadership training through phone and internet classes. We experimented with various education symbols, a collegiate-looking letter mark, and many icon/type layouts. After reviewing these sketches (while keeping in mind the client’s initial thoughts) we chose several of our favorites and then turned to the computer to create digital versions for the client to consider. We create about 30 pencil sketches for a logo design project.

At this stage we further explore type, shapes and arrangements. Everything is created in black and white so color choices don’t interfere with design decisions. At right are the logos we proposed to the client. After review, they chose one with a bold collegiate-looking lettermark and small curved gradations behind it indicating movement (lower left logo).

At this stage, we incorporated a slight name change and began some color studies. Since the client had a strong preference for dark blue and metallic bronze, we specified those PMS colors for their printed materials. At right is the final logo and tagline.

Website Design:
The process for web site design is very similar to print, but the presentation to the client consists of several digital prototypes of the home page. Once a concept is refined and approved, we create the actual home page with html, graphics, rollover buttons and other necessary elements.

The Soleil Design studio uses exclusively PowerMacs, however our software is usually compatible with PC files. We can accept text files in Word format, graphics in bmp, slide art in PowerPoint etc. When we present print projects to clients (for concept and approval) we either email Acrobat pdfs or present high quality color comps. Pdfs allow our clients to see the same graphics and fonts we do without having to own the same page layout software we do. This process saves our clients valuable time and money. For people who prefer to see hard copy we have an excellent printer in-house.
